smArtapps was founded in 2010, following a visit to the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris.
Frédéric Durand and Damien Debin noticed that all visitors had their smartphone in hand instead of the museum’s audio guide. That was the first step of a long creation process… smArtapps helps cultural and tourist sites to adapt to the uses of their visitors and to engage with more diverse audiences. smArtapps has developed a CMS (content management system) that allows institutions to create their mobile apps without having to code anything. Institutions integrate their content on the platform (texts, audios, images, videos…) while smArtapps provides its expertise in project management, mobile app development and UX Design (User Experience.)
The Paris-based startup has, in particular, a unique expertise in UX Design after extensive R&D as well as testing. This type of design is the result of an observation of visitors’ uses and needs; it is based on real practices. This method is essential to design a useful mediation tool, that will help improve visitors’ satisfaction.
smArtapps has worked with over 100 clients, including the greatest museums in Paris: Le Louvre, Paris Musées, Culturespaces, Paris City Vision, Nancy Museums or the cities of Deauville and Creil. We’re also well-established in Europe, with references such as the Collection Pinault in Venice, the Palazzo Strozzi in Florence or Chaplin’s World and the Musée Cantonal des Beaux-Arts in Lausanne.
