Michel Reilhac, based in Amsterdam, has been Head of Submarine Channel since January 2017.
Director of VR (Virtual Reality) films and the narrative architect of interactive storytelling, his last film, in VR, Viens!, made its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2016.
He is also a pioneer in transmedia storytelling formats and immersive, participatory and interactive experiences.
Furthermore, he is Director of Studies at the Venice Biennale College-Cinema and is frequently invited to lecture and speak at international events (i.e. Cannes Film Festival, SXSW Austin, Tribeca Film Festival, Pixel Lab, Dixit, FEMIS, etc.).
From 2002 to 2012, Michel was Head of Film Acquisitions at Arte France and Executive Director of Arte France Cinéma. In 2012, highly appreciated for his contribution at Arte, he was elected “Man of the Year” in the Film category by the trade magazine Le Film Français.Michel’s career includes creations as a contemporary dancer and producer of world tours for major dance troupes; Director for 10 years of the Forum des Images in Paris, and before that, at the Centre National de Danse Contemporaine (French Centre of Contemporary Dance); creation and production of events and innovative shows based on his own original concepts; and directing documentaries and feature films.
In addition, he is currently organising residencies for authors, screenwriters and writers in Lamu Island, Kenya.
