Mutatis is a VR film by the French emerging artist Mali Arun. The film – shot in a botanical garden – explores a frontier and a diffuse confrontation between scientific research and the mythological picture of organic and human landscapes. It has been shown at the Palais de Tokyo (Paris) as an installation in Mali Arun’s solo exhibition, from October 2019 to January 2020.
At night, strange men in white suits enter a botanical garden. Nature is abundant and fascinating. The site guard takes this group to the water lily pond. A young woman’s inanimate body is found there. The garden hides other bodies, buried, sunk in the deep flora. Then a strange light appears from the women’s bodies. Coproduced by Good Fortune Films and Seppia, with the support of the Palais de Tokyo Paris, the CNC, the CNAP (Ministère de la Culture), Eurométropole Strasbourg. Sales : MK2 VR.
